About the program
Mentorship is a powerful tool for personal and professional growth, yet many women have never experienced its benefits. The Women in Tech NZ mentorship program bridges this gap, making it easy for women in the technology industry to connect with like-minded mentors and mentees. Utilising the OneUpOneDown mentorship platform, we provide ongoing access to mentors, mentees, and resources to support your learning and development journey.
Our program focuses on meeting the unmet professional and personal development needs of women in tech. By pairing mentors and mentees into trusted relationships based on shared experiences, we create spaces where women can express and develop aspects of themselves that may have been sidelined in their current environments.
In addition to learning specific new skills, the interpersonal relationships developed through mentorship help improve confidence, communication, and a sense of value for all participants, both mentors and mentees.
Using OneUpOneDown’s proven mentor matching technique and structure, we facilitate “near peer” mentorship matches. This means the mentor is a couple of steps ahead of the mentee in terms of personal and professional development, making the mentor’s experience highly relevant. Each match lasts three months, with four meetings during this period. After the three months, mentors and mentees are rematched, providing ongoing learning and development opportunities.

How it works
1.Create a profile.
Sign up and define your role as a mentor, a mentee, or both. Complete your profile to help us understand your needs and experiences.
2. Get Matched.
We’ll find you the most suitable mentor or mentee, aligning with your personal and professional requirements. You’ll receive a match proposal for your review and approval. Once both parties agree, the mentorship journey begins.
3. Easy Engagement.
Engage in a three-month mentorship with at least four scheduled meetings – two in the first month and one in each subsequent month. This structure fosters a strong relationship and significant development within a manageable timeframe.
4. Ongoing Matching.
After completing the initial three-month period, active profiles are eligible for rematching, ensuring ongoing growth and new perspectives.
